 Utah Bride Blog Fall Inspiration Photo Shoot A few weeks ago, I was asked to participate in an amazing photo shoot with some incredibly talented vendors that was conceptualized by the fabulous ladies at Utah Bride Blog. The inspiration was Rustic Chic and the color palate was rich berry colors, mustard gold, and teal. Honeybees and hexagon or honeycomb patterns were also part of the inspiration. I love getting to do inspiration shoots. It gives me a chance to really play and be creative, and I usually like to go a little bolder, more unique, or just think outside the box for the cake design. For the cake design, I wanted to really stick with the rustic and organic elements of the theme of the shoot.  I loved the honeybees and honeycomb idea we had to work with, so I made fondant honeycomb pieces and fondant honeybees and randomly attached them. I also wanted to give the look of actual honey dripping from the honeycomb, so I used piping gel, which is a thick sugar gel, to make it look like honey and brushed it on some of the honeycombs. I love grossgrain ribbon and the organic texture of it, so I used a fondant grossgrain ribbon texture for the teal bow and also for the yellow ribbon borders. The buzzing bees were added to give it some whimsy and also a bit of movement.  Fondant blackberries and raspberries were added for that pop of bold colors. Dried purple flowers and twigs were also added. The cake base was covered in burlap, which really tied in with the rest of the theme. This was a blast to work on and I had a wonderful time! The incredibly talented Jimmy Bishop with Gideon Photography photographed the shoot. His work is absolutely stunning. The Bridal Extravaganza  Saturday, April 16, 2011South Towne Expo Center 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It's bridal show time again! A couple weeks ago, I got to be part of the Wedding Media Preview at Thanksgiving Point. I was invited by them to participate in this event, which I jumped at the chance to do. It was a lot of fun and I got to meet some other great vendors in the wedding industry as well as present to some fantastic people on the media side of things. Of course, I talked about cakes and the trends in the wedding cakes today. They made beautiful displays for 3 different themes: vintage, classic, and modern. I got to have some creative freedom to come up with a small cake for each theme for the corresponding display. The amazingly talented people at the Emporium at Thanksgiving Point came up with these gorgeous displays, which I was blown away by. Open House at Le Jardin Reception Center Saturday, March 26th from 12:00-2:00 p.m.  I'm so excited to be a part of the Tasting Event & Vendor Spotlight at the absolutely gorgeous Le Jardin Reception Center in Sandy on Saturday, March 26th! Le Jardin is such a beautiful venue for a reception. If you haven't been there yet, you should! The flowers, plants, fountains, stone walkways, etc. are just amazing. It has such a warm, magical atmosphere. My own sister held her wedding and reception there last spring, and it was beyond beautiful. We wanted to stay there all day and night!  I will be there along with some other fantastic vendors from 12:00-2:00 p.m. this coming Saturday, March 26th. I'll have some delicious cake samples to try and am looking forward to talking with lots of brides and grooms about their wedding plans.  Definitely make a point to come by and see this beautiful place and take a tour. You will not be disappointed! |

Chateau Faire Open House Saturday, March 5, 2011 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.  I'm so excited to be a part of the Open House that is being held at the lovely Chateau Faire Reception Villa on Saturday, March 5th! It's a great time to come by and check out this adorable little place. There will be some great vendors there too that you can meet. It's being catered by Sweet Pea Catering (YUM!!) and I will be there with some delicious cake samples for everyone to try and would love to "talk cake" with you! There will even be free bridal makeovers! The Open House will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., so please stop by and check out Chateau Faire, taste some great food and delicious cake, and have a really fun time! |

 It was another awesome bridal show on Saturday at the Bridal Extravaganza! I got to meet lots of new clients and am really looking forward to working with all of them! I absolutely love bridal shows and love getting to meet and discuss wedding cake plans with new couples. It's such a fun and exciting atmosphere. Hopefully I got to meet you at the show! I do get very busy while I'm there, so if I didnt' get a chance to talk to you, please feel free to call or e-mail me so we can set up an appointment. I hope those of you who were able to attend got some great ideas from the amazing vendors they had there and were able to get a lot of your wedding planning done.
