 Cupcake Crazy!Cupcakes are all the rage right now! And why shouldn't they be? They're so much fun and make such a statement in small or large groupings. Cupcakes can be simple and basic to very elaborate with custom toppers, wrappers, ribbons, and all sorts of accessories. A popular trend is a cupcake tower, especially for weddings. Some couples opt for a small cutting cake on the top of the tower and then serving cupcakes for their guests to help themselves to throughout the reception, instead of the standard large wedding cake that is cut and served after the bride and groom make their traditional first cut of the wedding cake. The great thing about weddings these days is anything goes.....there really are no rules with what you can and can't do with your wedding cake, and that includes using cupcakes instead of a cake or in addition to a cake.  Here's an example of a small cutting cake on top of a cupcake tower. You still get that tall effect of a large cake. I love these colors together. (See a closeup of the cupcakes above.) The cupcakes each have their own custom wrappers with ribbons and gumpaste roses and leaves toppers.  I love this combination of smaller cakes along side the cupcakes. Everything doesn't have to match completely, as long as it coordinates with each other. It's a great way to add some extra design elements and just keep the color scheme the same. This was one of my favorite wedding cake/cupcake combos.  These gorgeous cupcakes have edible butterflies and gumpaste hydrangeas on each one. These would be great for a springtime wedding! These butterflies come in a wide range of colors too.  Not all cupcake wrappers have to be used with cupcakes! I loved this bride's idea of doing stacks of small cookies inside the adorable custom cupcake wrappers instead of cupcakes. We added a small fondant flower on top for a little decoration. Such a fun and unique idea! I'm always amazed at some of the adorable ideas brides bring me, and this one was one of my faves! And just for a little fun and whimsy, here are some super cute and super colorful cupcakes. Again, custom wrappers. There are so many fun wrapper designs out there, the possibilities are endless! The toppers are handmade wire flowers made with bead centers. You can do just about anything for cupcake toppers. From basic sprinkles to elaborate gumpaste roses and butterflies, cupcakes are a way to truly express yourself. You can have 1 design or several, and they are so fun together. Everyone loves cupcakes! Even my dad, who doesn't like cake but likes cupcakes (go figure!) |
