Congratulations Chelsey & Jake! Chelsey and Jake held their ceremony and reception at Talon's Cove in Saratoga Springs. It was my first time delivering a cake out to this lovely venue that overlooks Utah Lake and has stunning views of the mountains and lake. Wow! I met with Chelsey and Jake last fall to talk about their wedding cake plans. Chelsey later brought me in a sketch her florist had come up with that was an original cake design, and I loved it! Chelsey chose a lovely color combo of ivory and champagne colors. The cake was covered in ivory fondant. Then I added ivory scrolls and sugar pearls. Down the center of the cake we did a gradually widening champagne-colored inlay with black corset-laces with champagne fondant pearl borders. Chelsey found these beautiful brooches we used for the centers of each lace section. They were so pretty! When we got to the reception to set up the cake, we added the beautiful peony flowers her florist had provided. The flowers added that final perfect touch to the cake. It looked so beautiful in the reception ballroom with all the other fabulous details they did there. I am so proud of this cake. It turned out even better than I had pictured it in my mind. I love when I get to see the bride's reaction when she very first sees her cake, and Chelsey's reaction was priceless! She was a gorgeous bride and did such a great job on all the details of her wedding. Chelsey wanted to surprise Jake with a groom's cake. Jake is a big Boston Celtics fan, so we did a Celtic's themed cake with basketball cupcakes! Jake had no idea, and I got to see his reaction when she showed him his cake. It was great to see his reaction. Chelsey and Jake were awesome to work with and so much fun! I wish them a wonderfully happy marriage!

Congratulations to Haylee & Nick!! I've been looking forward to Haylee & Nick's wedding cake for months! It was such a unique cake, and I love being able to do something completely different. Haylee brought me a picture of a cake she'd seen in a magazine, but it was completely different colors. She also liked a photo of another cake I've done in the past with a pleated look of dress fabric, so we customized the cake and combined both cake designs, changing the colors to fit her color scheme, and added some other personal touches. Haylee's colors were this beautiful deep purple, white, and a pewter color. All the flowers on the cake are made from fondant, and there were a lot of them! There were different styles of roses as well as carnations, daisies, and what we call "fantasy flowers", which are flowers of no exact variety or species. The majority of the flowers were done in the white fondant with random deep purple flowers here and there. I love the added touch Haylee came up with by wanting to add 2 "lovebirds" on the cake. We made those from fondant in a little bit deeper shade of purple than the flowers and gave them feathered tails. They held their reception at one of my all-time favorite venues, Thanksgiving Point. The room they had the reception in overlooks Thanksgiving Point's immaculate and expansive gardens and gives everyone in the room a fantastic view. It's such a beautiful backdrop. The reception decor was chic, elegant, and very well done! The cake fit in so perfectly with every other detail....and let me tell you there were some amazing details! I think Haylee chose a perfect cake style to meld the chic and classic look of her reception but still added the soft and organic touches with the flowers and birds. This cake definitely goes up there with one of my absolute faves! I want to thank Haylee & Nick for choosing me to be part of their beautiful wedding day! Congrats again to both of them and I wish them all the happiness in the world as they start their new lives together!

Congratulations Sarah and Mike! Sarah and Mike held their reception at the truly gorgeous Grand America Hotel in downton Salt Lake City. I love the Grand America. It's beyond beautiful there! Sarah emailed me a picture of a cake she fell in love with. The cake is elegant, simple, and very beautiful. The middle tier is covered in strand after strand after strand of fondant pearls that were hand painted with food coloring dusts to give them a champagne shimmer to them. The single rose is made from sugar in a pretty blush/light pink color. So often, simple cakes can make such a statement. I loved the elegance of this cake. Congratulations again to Mike and Sarah! I wish them a beautiful new life together!

Congratulations to Danielle and Wesley! Danielle and Wesley make an adorable couple. I had a lot of fun meeting with them and designing their wedding cake. Their colors were beautiful deep shades of purples and blues, and Danielle wanted the cake to have a "Victorian Garden" feel to it. The cake was iced in buttercream. The wavy lines are done in fondant. All the flowers are fondant flowers and leaves. We did a variety of different flowers like hydrangeas, roses, carnations, and daisies. I really loved the colors Danielle had chosen, and they really popped against the white buttercream background of the cake. They chose some of my most popular flavors for the cake, key lime coconut and root beer float. We don't get to do a lot of groom's cakes, as they're not as common here in Utah as they are in other parts of the country, but Wesley wanted a groom's cake and Danielle wanted to make sure he got the cake he wanted. I think it's great when a groom gets a cake all his own. Wesley knew exactly what he wanted for his groom's cake.............Yoda from Star Wars! Being a Star Wars fan myself, I loved the idea and was excited to get to do our first Yoda cake. I have to give big Kudos to my husband, Shaun, on this one. He also loves Star Wars and so he got to do most of the planning and making of this cake. I want to thank Danielle and Wesley for choosing me to be part of their special day, and I wish them a wonderful new life together!
